The Unibe School of Medicine was founded in 1983.
The main objective is to train competent, ethical, and committed physicians dedicated to human wellbeing, capable of leading transformational processes within healthcare systems.
The program follows a modern competency-based curricular approach that combines theory with clinical practice from early stages. The curriculum consists of 397 credits distributed across 76 courses over 16 academic periods and is structured in three cycles: Pre-Med, Basic Sciences, and Clinical Sciences. Notable courses include Clinical Skills I, II, and III, Embryology and Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Neurosciences, Integrated Basic Sciences Course, Clinical Research, Tropical Medicine and Global Health, Emergency Medicine and Surgical Specialties, Health Services Management, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, among others.
The program provides elective scholarly concentrations, opportunities for international exchange, community service activities, and research and leadership skills development. Certificates are available in Research, Global Health, Public Health, and Health Services Management.
The program maintains partnerships with universities and hospitals in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America to carry out clinical rotations.
The graduate profile includes competencies, capable of excelling in primary healthcare, health promotion and disease prevention, and managerial skills. Graduates can work in comprehensive medical care, administrative and management functions, teaching, design of health policies and programs, and research.
The School of Medicine is accredited by CAAM-HP (Accreditation Commission on Medical Education).
Active pedagogical methods and cutting-edge technologies are utilized, including clinical simulation and Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Students participate in hospital rotations in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, psychiatry, among other specialties.
The program fosters student leadership by engaging in academic committees through involvement in institutional projects.
Research is woven throughout the curriculum, through courses, seminars, scholarly mentorship, and involvement in academic conferences and publications.
Clinical Rotations is the final stage of the program where students strengthen their clinical and administrative competencies prior to beginning their professional career.

The School of Medicine at Unibe holds certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), which enables its graduates to pursue medical residencies in the United States.
