Learn while giving: Service learning in the Dominican Republic is a two-week program that combines in-classroom Spanish language instruction and cultural immersion, with a special focus on service learning experiences in the Dominican Republic. This program intends to provide participants with a unique intercultural service learning opportunity. Cultural immersion contents will allow international students to experience everyday Dominican life, local traditions, values, behaviors, and beliefs from an insider perspective. In addition, the program offer plenty of time for immersion in Dominican Republic’s underserved communities, giving students the opportunity to contribute to those communities, while getting a chance to get to know our beautiful island, having fun by learning and discovering our rich history, beaches, villages, and outdoor adventures. Santo Domingo is a city of many “firsts” in the Americas, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
