The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic is a two-week program that offers international students a unique study abroad opportunity in which they can learn about the emerging industry of film making in the country, while they experience the rich Dominican culture. The program represents a remarkable opportunity to gain substantial knowledge on how the industry is growing in the Dominican Republic, the legal framework to support movie productions, and the unique landscape that the DR offers for international directors to consider as a set for their feature films. Legendary movies have filmed several scenes in the DR, such as The Good Shepherd, The Godfather: Part II, Apocalypse Now, Miami Vice, Pirates of the Caribbean, among others. The program includes visits to large filming studios, key actors in the sector, movie producers, among others. It also includes “walking lectures” to some of the most important historical places to visit in a city of many “firsts” in the Americas. The travel portion will include stays in Santo Domingo and Cap Cana.
