International Business in the Caribbean: The Case of the Dominican Republic is a program that offers undergraduate and graduate students a unique study abroad opportunity in which they can experience the rich Dominican culture and learn about its economic system. There is also an opportunity to gain regional and local business knowledge.The course includes visits to private and public agencies and business councils and associations such as the Foreign Trade Department (DICOEX), American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), and Center for Promotion of Exports and Foreign Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD). The program includes lectures by high level executives, professors, entrepreneurs, businessmen, and other key stakeholders of the Dominican Republic’s economy and foreign trade. It also includes “walking lectures” to some of the most important historical places to visit in a city of many “firsts” in the Americas. The travel portion will include stays in Santo Domingo and Cap Cana.
