coordinating on campus activities as well as
participation in inter-university competitions.
Currently a wide array of activities is offered
ranging from chess and table tennis to
basketball and martial arts. The Cultural arm of
the department runs the Theatre and Dance
groups, which carry on productions on and off
campus.
Orientation Week
Each new student entering UNIBE is required to
attend an orientation session, which is held on
the week prior to the start of the semester and
helps students get acquainted with the country,
campus and other aspects of student life. During
this event Medical School students are
introduced to the curricular and
extra-curricular aspects of the Medical Program.
Housing
UNIBE does not offer on campus housing but the
Dean of Students Office provides assistance to
foreign students with their housing
arrangements. Those interested in this service
should contact the office in advance in order to
make the necessary arrangements by calling (809)
689-4111, extensions 1154 and 1156.
Health Insurance
Every foreign student at UNIBE is automatically
covered by a health insurance plan. This
insurance covers outpatient visits, emergencies,
surgery, private hospitalization, and
medications. Health insurance to cover the
student’s family is available at an additional
cost to the student.
In cases of disease or accident in the campus,
UNIBE will be responsible only for administering
first aid.
Religious Services
The University always welcomes students from all
faith traditions and encourages them to
integrate their beliefs to their personal growth
and academic development. Santo Domingo offers a
representation of most religious congregations.
