ACADEMIC
POLICIES AND REGULATIONS
The following reference to academic regulations
is a general summary of important aspects and
does not constitute the entire set of academic
policies. UNIBE's academic requirements and
regulations are contained in the Academic
Regulations Handbook.
Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy
Students are expected to be making satisfactory
academic progress to be able to participate in
Student Financial Assistance Programs.
Eligibility is contingent upon a student
remaining in good standing and making
satisfactory progress towards a degree. A
student is in Good Academic Standing when he/she
is considered to be making satisfactory
progress.
UNIBE has established a policy to determine the
academic progress of its students, which is
moderate in quantitative and qualitative terms.
Quantitative measurement
The quantitative requirement establishes that
the student will have to approve sixty six
percent of the credits attempted until the first
half of the training program.
Time to complete
Every student enrolled in a degree-granting
program must complete said program within a
period of time that shall not exceed one and one
half times the normal established completion
time. In the event that a student fails to
complete the program in the allotted time he/she
may be dismissed from the program. If the
student asks to complete the program without
receiving the diploma he/she will be able to do
that receiving a certificate of attendance. This
condition does not apply to other levels of
study.
Qualitative measurement
The qualitative measurement is based on the GPA
of the student. The student must have obtained
the minimum established GPA of 2.0 by the
midpoint of the program.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
The Accumulated GPA corresponds to all
credit-bearing courses taken by the student at
UNIBE until such time a degree is conferred. The
Accumulated GPA is calculated by multiplying the
number of credits of all subjects taken by the
grade obtained according to its numerical value,
adding the points obtained in this
multiplication and dividing them by the total
amount of credits taken to date.
