Credits (or Credit Hour)
A collegiate credit hour is based on the
Carnegie unit, 1 hour of lecture or 2 hours of
laboratory, or 3 hours of independent study or
research, for a single student per week.
Strictly speaking, the student hour is
approximately 15 hours of class or contact time,
the equivalent of one-hour (50 minutes) of
lecture time for a single student per week over
the course of a semester, usually 16 weeks.
