Regarding
Academic Condition
At the end of each semester the academic
performance of the student will be evaluated and
their academic condition will be determined,
which could be: normal, probatory, or academic
probation.
Normal Condition
All students who obtain a semester and an
accumulated a GPA equal or greater than 2.0 in
the program and that have received passing
grades in at least sixty six percent of all
credits attempted will be considered in Normal
Condition.
Academic Probation
Students on Academic Probation are those
students who:
a) Once the second semester is finished have a
semester or accumulated GPA between 1.0 (60) and
1.9 (68);
b) Once the second semester is finished have a
semester GPA of less than 1.0 (60), but an
accumulated GPA of 2.5 (75) or above.
Probation
Students on Probation are those students who at
the half-point of their medical program attain
an accumulated GPA of under two points (70)
and/or fails to approve sixty-six percent of the
credits attempted.
If the student at the end of the following
semester does not have the required GPA and/or
fails to approve sixty-six percent of the
credits attempted, normally will be dismissed
from the program.
The student may appeal to the appropriate
authorities the dismissal from the program due
to failure to maintain satisfactory academic
progress alleging situations outside the
student’s control, illness, or a family
emergency and showing that a tangible effort has
been made that suggests the student will be able
to obtain the minimum required GPA the following
term. In that case a second term on probation
may be granted.
If the student does not attain the required
level of satisfactory academic progress after a
second period of probatory, normally that
student will be dismissed from the program.
Incompletes
In those cases where a student of otherwise
adequate performance has not been able to
fulfill the requirements necessary to approve
the subject, the professor will be able to
provisionally assign a mark of (I).
The mark of incomplete must be removed no later
than one week after the end of classes. Normally
the maximum time to remove an incomplete one
will be two weeks. In the case that an
incomplete is not removed within the allotted
time period, an officer of the Registrar will
assign a grade of zero (failed). In case the
subject is a prerequisite of another one where
the student already has registered, normally
said subject will be dropped.
